As life would have it, circumstances changed, and the author was able to move to Essex Montana in the summer of 1985. Since then he was able to photograph every location in Marias Pass that he had imagined, but by then Great Northern was history, with Burlington Northern at the helm, passing to Burlington Northern Santa Fe today.
