This railroad company was formerly called the Northern Pacific Terminal Company and was created to be the heart of Henry Villard’s Northwest rail empire. It survived financial market crashes, two wars and numerous corporate mergers. It reached its zenith in the 1950s ad changed its name to Portland Terminal Railroad Company in 1965. Traces history to today as a successful operating railroad.
