The story of Milwaukee Road steam switch engines is primarily that of its J class 0-4-0’sof the last decades of the nineteenth century and I class 0-6-0’s of the twentieth century. That the Milwaukee had only two 0-8-0 switchers, coming with the purchase of the Chicago, Terre Haute & Southeastern, is primarily as result of the success of the 0-6-0’s and the Milwaukee’s frequent use of Consolidations, Prairies and Mikados in switching service. Black/White photos with descriptions.
